A useful first session starts small, stays easy and happens with you nearby.
1. Inspect and prepare
Check the mat for damage or loose parts. Use a little of a food your pet already tolerates and account for it within their normal food allowance. The food shown in product images is a serving illustration, not a recipe or portion recommendation.
2. Make success easy
On a lick mat, spread a thin layer so your pet can reach it without frustration. On a snuffle mat, place small pieces visibly on top of the fleece before hiding them deeper in later sessions.
3. Stay close and watch
Allow your pet to explore at their own pace. Supervise the whole session. End the activity if your pet starts chewing, pulling off pieces, tearing the mat or becoming frustrated. Do not leave a mat with an unattended pet.
4. Clean, dry and put away
Remove leftover food and crumbs after use. Follow the product's care instructions, let it dry and store it out of your pet's reach. Inspect it again before the next session.

For a pet with dietary restrictions or distress, ask a veterinarian or qualified behavior professional for individual guidance. Enrichment accessories do not replace that care.
